Panic Attack Counselling Dublin
Feeling anxious is a common human response to a difficult situation but
sometimes anxiety can be severe and can lead to panic. Severe panic can feel
extreme and take the form of a panic attack.
Panic attacks tend to strike people suddenly and without warning. If you
experience this common form of Panic Attack, you will generally find that the
panic attacks can happen at any time, and without any obvious stimulus or cause.
Most panic attacks last for a few minutes although sometimes they can continue
for up to 10-15 minutes.
Most people will experience some of these symptoms during a Panic Attack:
- Sweating
- Trembling or shaking
- Sensations of shortness of breath
- Pains in chest/feeling like having a heart attack
- Nausea or abdominal pain
- Feeling dizzy, faint or light headed
- Fear of losing control & your mind
- A sense of unreality
- Numbness or tingling sensations
- Chills or hot flushes
- A fear of dying

At Embolden counselling we can help alleviate these symptoms by using techniques
such as:
Relaxation & breathing, cognitive behavioural therapy (to challenge and change
the patient’s fear response), look at your lifestyle habits and how these may be
effecting your body, assertiveness training, acceptance and awareness by
recognising & naming what is happening to you. We will look at the possibility
of there being an underlying cause or event in your life which triggered these
attacks.
